Norfolk Bridge

Norfolk Bridge

A pre-stressed 3-span bridge.  This bridge was a replacement for the old trussed arch bridge.  An innovative solution was devised using old temporary piers in the river allowing the lateral slide of the old bridge to act as a temporary crossing for traffic.  The new bridge was then constructed on one embankment and incrementally launched.  Full design of the permanent works and all temporary works including the launching nose.
